Why do I suddenly want to play a game of Savage Worlds Weird War 2 just to have this face off against the players?

Nah, rotary wouldn't have fit the time. Three side by side guns with three ammo feeds.

It looked big, but then I saw the bike, and then it became REALLY big. Also, the hand held artillery gun(s) is a masterpeice.

Interesting… I like the bludgeoning hammer for a melee weapon (TANK SMASH!!!), the three separate ammo feeds for the handheld gun, and the fact that it can drop the gun if it goes kaput. A very rugged machine. Is this sort of a World War II-era machine, or a bit later on?

Happy you like it! CAn't be better described than tank smash, and the spereate ammo feed seemed reasonable as gatling style guns weren't really WWII style tech and seem unlikely for a gun that big.
I've done it for a alternative WWII era setting. You can read more about on :iconrob-cavanna: page if you are interested!

That's true. Gatling guns seem more like a World War I weapon, that there weren't many opportunities for their usage in World War II. I know they had the Vickers water-cooled machine gun, which is often mistaken for a gatling gun.

Yeah,Gatlings are more turn of the century and 60s stuff, so...

By the way the gun arm is a masterpiece. Joining 3 tank guns in 1 weapons gives impression of enormous power That rocks.

All the mech is very good. Tank is on the angled terrain so it also seems to be good. But somwhere around the feet of the mech something really wrong happens it doesnt seem to stand firmly on the ground like he was hoovering over the terrain and feets seem to have wrong angle in realation to the ground. The thing you wanted to show in this pose that his knee is bent and his leg is standing on the rock doesnt seem to be working. I dont know maybe Im wrong but thats my impression about it. But as I said the design is Awensomly cool. Congratz for the skills.

Ah that. I know what you mean. That is some akward thing which always seems to happen in Sketchup. When placing on ground the mechs always seem to be detached from the ground. Like you are saying, they seem to hover. Don't know why this looks like it and I haven't figured out how to stop this. Otherwise the angles of the ground and the feet is the same. They are placed correctly. Maybe I should look for another rock texture.Hmmm. Gonna have a look. Thanks for the crits as I'm always happy about another opinion.

I suspected that was 3d :) but even in 3d image render you can have impression of messed up perspective if you take picture at strange angle. I think that you can change angle of render bit to show that his leg is bent and fix the hoovering problem in photoshop just by adding some dirt rocks and things to set him up on ground. He is very heavy notice that heavy things tend to cave into terrain depending on how heavy they are. For an example you never see the details of a tank track when its standing on soft terrain. Same should be with legs of the mech. Down edges of the feet schoul cave into soft terrain and shouldnt be visible. I think you can do much for the feeling of perspective in photoshop just by adding air perspective and subtly cooling down colors of farther objects like tank or back leg. Anyways more I look at it less anoying it becomes so probably you wont be fixing this things on this one. Maybe u can take this forward to your future works which I await with impatience. Best wishes.

Yes it's 3d, so the angles are right for sure :). Gonna try different angles and see if I play a bit in Photoshop, although I am a real beginner with that. Thanks a lot for all the comments, really appreciate them!

The King Tiger is sweet, but the little bicycle is even more clever! really, perfect scale reference and funny contrast.
It's especially effective because it looks so utterly harmless and defenseless before hulking Wotan. :D

Happy you like it! I'm also happy with it as I'm always thinking of scale references which aren't humans (don't wanna model them..), so I glad this came to my mind.

Yeah? That sounds awesome. Always wanted to do one, as the Italians were somewhat more low-tech and this would be a great opportunity to do a more retro style mech. Well even more retro. Also their machines had some sort of awkward beauty... wanna see! :D

Vey awesomemistic! The amount of detail is just staggering. Not sure about the flat rock textured, though. Kinda sets it apart from the rest of the model. Perhaps a frog-eye perspective to stress the enormous size? Or something like some troops or a car/truck next to it to demonstrate the size?

Thanks, you are right about everything. Already realized that the dimension isn't really obvious, so I worked on that one. And I also changed the rocks, tried to make them look less 'flat'...Hmmm. don't know if I achieved it. If you know a good way of doing rocks I'd love to learn! Thanks for the comments. always happy about opinion!

Wow three magazines? So tripple fire instead of a chaingun mechanism. That's bound to hurt someone.
I'm loving the warhammer as well, don't like the idea of sitting in a tank hit by that. He even looks reinforced enough to actually take a hit to the joints or hands, but something could have been done for the Machine Gunner in the back. The most important questiong probably is if he can get back up?
Reply
:iconflaketom:
flaketom Featured By Owner Jan 10, 2011
Yes no chain gun. A chaingun seemed unrealistic for this setting, but as we all love them, there needed to be something like it. :P.
Yeah the machine gunner and the whole rear platform is unprotected, but there is enough room inside for the people manning the guns. So they just hop out if there is a need for. If you ask how the Machine gunner gets back up, there is a lift on the rear(basket and winch), so that is solved. But if asked if the mecha can stand up after falling, I'd say he is as helpless as a beetle lying on it's back...

Hum...I suppose if the mech is hit without preparing for it, a good high caliber hit might topple him. Seems to be balancing the size and powerful gun.
